In case the blog title wasn’t quite sufficiently descriptive, this site is where I’m putting my notes and documentation about my Zone 6, Westlake Ohio Garden.
The garden in question is located in my backyard, and is scattered in patches around our 1/3 acre lot, with the main vegetable garden being in a 20×20 raised bed area towards the back of the yard (low spot, lots of west sun exposure, pine and arborvitae rather too close on the south and east). the main flower and herb beds are all over the place: these include a mix of perennials, edible landscaping, herbs, a few specimen trees (saplings), and a huge fig tree that was here when we moved in about six years ago.
The cat on the blog header image (as of August 2010) is our cat, Bugs. She is a rather spoiled and talkative Japanese Bobtail that I acquired when I made the mistake of looking in the “Free Kittens” box at a yard sale. She’s also a catnip addict. In the photo, she is sitting in the garden with a stalk of arugula seedpods dangling in front of her.
Note: For those who may have stumbled across this site and are not local to my area, Westlake is a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
